Academic Hospital Medicine Fellowship

The Academic Hospital Medicine fellowship is designed to provide advanced training to junior hospitalists to launch them into successful academic careers. Individuals who have completed an internal medicine residency are eligible to apply for the two-year fellowship. Applications are open year-round and positions begin each July. Funding for the fellowship is provided by the Division of Hospital Medicine and some fellows are funded through a National Research Service Award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

Fellowships include formal training, mentorship and a capstone project. Each fellow receives protected time, ranging from 25 to 75 percent, as they focus their training in one of three areas:

All fellows are faculty members of the Division of Hospital Medicine and receive full tuition support for their formal training (i.e., master’s degree or certificate). Fellows interact with, and receive guidance from mentors and colleagues through a variety of regularly scheduled meetings, including division work-in-progress meetings.
