Message from the Chair

Friends and Colleagues,

As we put the finishing touches on a remarkable 2017, I hope you will take a moment to note some of the recent successes of our faculty in the Department since our last Medicine Matters. In the new year, we look forward to sharing more of these stories of both distinction and pride, and to lending the support of the Chairman’s office to help advance them. In the meantime, I wish you and yours the most happy and healthy of holiday seasons.

Warmest regards,
Doug

In Memoriam: Mihai Gheorghiade, MD

The Department is saddened by the passing of Mihai Gheorghiade, MD, professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology, on August 23rd. In his 25 years on the faculty of Northwestern, the immensity of his contributions to our campus and indeed all of medical science are eclipsed only by the lasting legacy he leaves through the hundreds of trainees that continue to pursue the discovery and dissemination of clinical knowledge that defined his career. As the Department considers options to memorialize Gheorghiade in a manner befitting of his distinction, please join us as we offer our respect and appreciation for our friend and colleague; a gentleman and a scholar.
